A Comparison on The Day of Love

(Clearly this picture wasn't taken on Valentines day (I haven't figured out how to work the scanner yet... ) this was the closest I could get - it's just a few months before so it counts, I said so, I'm the mom. Yes, I'm wearing overalls, sorry 'bout that...)
Bug Man and I had our first date in October of 2002, it was perfection. 'Love at first sight' or ummm, fifth sight :) By Valentines we were engaged and making plans. Brandon set himself up for permanent future failure that year, the rest of his life, Valentines day would be judged upon that day.
Set Stage:
Brandon, living with his parents while he went to school and worked, has set up the basement as follows: 2 sheets tacked to the ceiling to provide privacy for the young couple in love, the entrance is between the sheets (he he he, I didn't plan that but now I can't read it w/o laughing...) upon entering you find a candlelit table set with china and flowers. He has prepared a dinner (all by himself!!!) of White Lasagna and broccoli (I love broccoli and here my memory is getting a little foggy... I can't remember what else:( and some sort of dessert... ) He has done his research and found her favorite chocolate and favorite movie, what man doesn't want watch 'An Affair to Remember' curled up with the woman he loves??? Good amount of kissing, endlessly verbalizing love and thoughts on eternity, the man drives the woman home and there is more of the aforementioned. End Scene.
New Scene: February 14, 2009. Little preparation involved the couple drops off their two children with friends (we always opt for the day date - we aren't night owls like the good old days) and catches a matinee at the $2 theater ' Yes Man.' The couple leaves the theater to wander a health food store, grabs a hamburger which they eat in the car and a few hours later, pick up their children to go home and go their separate ways. Hers leads her to clean and put pink icing on a dozen gf sugar cookies. His leads him to the couples bedroom where the computer and the NBA Slam Dunk competition holds his attention when he isn't being used as a jungle gym for the 2 1/2 year old and the 4 1/2 year old. Evening comes to the house and they 'playfully' argue over the acceptability of pulling up the woman's shirt to put a frozen water bottle on the woman's nice warm back. Payback on the babysitting and night arrives, with a kiss and an I love you, the couple falls into blissful sleep and happy dreaming. End Scene.
Was it a good day? Wonderful.
Would I trade it for the up and down hormonal roller coaster of those times? Nope, well, okay sometimes :)

The Debate is Over...

(no, this isn't what my shoes normally look like - I organized for this picture in order to best display all involved...)
As is customary in husband and wife debate - there is always a recurring issue, one of ours happens to be the amount of shoes I tend to purchase. I enjoy shoes, particularly 'Sunday' shoes. In the past I have come home from shopping with a great 'steal' on a pair of shoes. I have been scrutinized to no end on the amount of shoes I already have that I don't wear. He doesn't understand the concept of summer and winter shoes - it's far too difficult for a college graduate to understand... Now I will lay it out for him more clearly. I have found something that somewhat levels the playing field... he likes ... pants.
I was putting away laundry this morning and made a discovery that had previously gone unnoticed. THE PANT EPIDEMIC!!! It would take my dear sweet husband over 30 days to wear all of the pants in his closet ... a short cry from the few weeks it would take me to wear the combined total of my winter and summer shoes (that isn't including his summer wear, just his pants. ) Now granted he has his work pants in there - so subtract 6 pairs of those khaki babies and you still have 30 days of courderoy, black, tan, pin-striped, khaki, brown, dark brown, plaid, gray, and jeans, now lets add in his pjs... :)

Yesterday

His main concern after the bandaid was put on... "Mom, now I can't open wide like a alligator!!!"
This was last night, the pictures don't look too bad but it was scary. Dillon was spinning himself on our computer chair and swung right into the corner of the desk - very sharp corner... instant panic. I knew Brandon was on his way home so I placed a frantic phone call, I'm sure I was completely incoherent and Brandon kept asking what happened but I just kept telling him to get home faster - he can fly you know :)
We were calm when he got home - Dillon had stopped screaming and was completely zoned in on Bob and his team - thank you Bob, you saved the day again. Anyway, we debated for an hour taking him to the doctor and ended up just cleaning it up really good and putting on a butterfly band aid - which now I regret because this morning it's still bleeding !!!
Oh yes, while this was all going down - Kenzie pooped in the tub.

Snowqualmie Falls

This family picture is my favorite, a very seldom seen thing occurred - a REAL smile from Brandon caught on, well, mega pixels or something like that but you get the idea :) I also love the next one with the kids on the rock. They look so little.

I feel like I haven't been posting many pictures lately, I've been in a rather verbose mood.
Recently we went with some friends of ours to a local water fall, it's beautiful - particularly after the flooding we've been through. We tried to get a good family picture of us - no luck ... but I'll post them anyway. I think we laughed through every picture, mainly because it was so cold we only had two options - cry or laugh.
Thanks go to the Browns for attempting to photograph our unruly family and to Cheryl who sacrificed her hat so my toddler wouldn't get sick!
